Healthy soil starts below the surface. Rata aerators are built to open up compacted ground, improve root development and boost overall pasture performance. Each unit is engineered for New Zealand conditions, with the frame strength, tine design and build quality to handle demanding paddocks without slowing you down.

Tractor Aerators Built for NZ Conditions

Fieldwave Aerators

Fieldwave aerators are made for deeper soil renovation, breaking through hardpan layers and improving infiltration and moisture retention across the root zone. Shear pin models offer reliable protection for standard paddock aeration, while the auto-reset design suits heavier or stony ground where extra resilience is needed.

Subsoil and Ripper Aerators

Rata’s subsoil aerators and rippers are designed for targeted work below the surface. The Toolbar Subsoiler suits orchards, vineyards and compact areas, loosening soil between trees or rows without disturbing the surface. The Single Leg Ripper offers similar depth and precision for drainage runs, tree planting or pipe laying.

Pasture and Paddock Aerators

Rata pasture aerators and paddock aerators are built to restore soil structure where heavy traffic or livestock pressure has caused compaction. By opening the soil profile they allow roots to breathe, water to drain, and nutrients to reach deeper layers.

Rata Aerator FAQs

Do Rata tractor aerators damage the pasture surface?

No. Rata tractor aerators are designed to lift and fracture the compacted layer beneath the surface without disturbing existing grass cover. This helps improve drainage and root development while leaving the paddock ready for grazing or regrowth almost immediately.

Which Rata aerator suits vineyards and orchards?

The Toolbar Subsoiler is ideal for orchards, vineyards or tight working areas. Its narrow frame and leg layout allow accurate subsoiling between trees or vines, improving drainage and root health without disrupting the surface.

Can I use a Rata aerator before cultivating or disking?

Yes. The Pre-Ripper is designed exactly for that. It breaks compacted soil layers before secondary cultivation, improving moisture movement and helping discs or tines achieve more even results in the next pass.

What Rata aerator should I use for heavy or stony ground?

If you’re dealing with heavier clay or ground full of obstructions, the Auto Reset Fieldwave Aerator is the better option. Its auto-reset system allows each leg to release under impact and reset instantly, protecting both the tine and frame from damage.
